Story
Ryan Smith grows up in Dallas, Texas. He is a great high school basketball player. He dreams of playing professional basketball one day. He plays point guard, but is 5'8 and only 140 lbs. as a senior. He only receives one scholarship offer to play college basketball. He is determined to prove everyone wrong for doubting him because of his height and weight. He puts on 35 pounds of muscle and becomes a great college basketball player, but he is still the last player taken in the draft. He vows to become the best player in the league. That summer he continues his yearly volunteer activities at the Dallas Aquarium. One day as he is in the water putting on a show for the audience an accident transfers the abilities of all of the animals in the aquarium into his body. He survives the accident unaware of his new abilities, however he notices that he is more athletic than he was before the accident. One day he is on his way home from basketball practice when he comes to the flooded Trinity River Bridge. A woman and her baby are stuck in their car in middle of the flooded bridge as the rain continues to descend and the crowd grows more desperate. Ryan attempts to rescue the victims and succeeds in saving the baby. He pulls the drunk lady from the flooded car, but she is pronounced dead when they reach the shore. Ryan feels guilty for hesitating to step in and rescue the victims and he vows to never hesitate again when people are in danger. He remembers the river rescue and realizes that he should not have survived the force of the waters and the amount of time that he spent under water. He has flashbacks of both the accident in the aquarium and the accident at the river. He begins going to the river and the lake to test his abilities and discovers that he can swim extremely fast and breathe underwater. Then he discovers his incredible leaping abilities and realizes that he must always restrain his abilities in basketball games so that he does not expose his super human strength and jumping ability. He designs his costume after the yellow and black jungle frogs in the Dallas Aquarium and becomes Amphibian. One by one he recruits each member of Solo Legion to join the team and he becomes the leader of Solo Legion.
